Formed in a pizza joint in the winter of 2010…Stripsearch, or S2 as the band calls it, was originally the idea of L.T. & Cary. Larry: ‘we had some downtime with the Bars and Cary and I wanted to keep busy’. ‘ I had seen Scott a bunch of different times thru the years, we were always running into each other in the same venues; and I made a mental note on the back burner to recruit him if we ever put something together. Honestly my short list was very short, Scott was the only one on it’.
What followed was over a year of frustrating bass player auditions…Scott: ‘it was pretty tough for awhile, we’d either have an audition that didn’t work out, or the three of us would just jam and realize how empty it sounded without that low end, there were some times where we'd go for weeks on end doing nothing and I wanted to kind of just bail'.
Enter Keiley, ex-Cheeky Monkey band alumni with Scott: ‘I had him in mind and suggested him early on, we just had to iron out some details and make sure the four of us fit.
So the band went on it’s first date together and all doubt vanished completely as soon as the band was halfway through it’s first song. ‘I can’t even tell you what song it was’ says Cary, ‘I’m sure Larry knows, he has like 4 big notebooks filled from front to back with songs he knows or has been playing since grade school’.
‘A cool observation one of my friends made’ says Cary, ‘he noticed Scott & Keiley have their own little thing onstage, having already played together'. 'He said the same thing about Larry and I, which is pretty interesting; now we just need to bridge that gap and all get used to each other’.
Stripsearch has been collectively rehearsing for close to a year and has been playing opening slots and full nights on their own. ‘We almost forgot what it’s like to learn 45 songs all at the same time, that’s brutal’.
‘We’ve all got nerves…we got some people out there that probably have some big expectations and we hope we’ll be able to deliver…we’re very confident we will'.
